Five Books You Need to Read Right Now to Stop Doubting Yourself
You are an absolute POWERHOUSE of a human.
We all are. We all have talents, unique slants, and special life cred that should be shared with the world. Too many of us are resisting that for fear of failure, for fear of success (yes, this is a thing), or just contentment around playing small. If you’re one of those people, I’m here to tell you that the world NEEDS your light, needs your energy, needs your unique talents, and there are wonderful opportunities waiting for you to just invite them in.
With that said... You’re going to have to do some work with your negative self talk, limiting beliefs, and general ho-hummery about the world around you. You’re going to have to think and talk like you got all that it takes and then some, even if you really don’t *believe* it yet. If you want to get to really talking, thinking, and believing like you’re the wonderful, miraculous, talent filled, special person that you really are, and if you’re sick of playing small, watching while other people with “more courage” or “more money” or “more time” (blah blah blah) go after and get what you want – then check out these books. These books and authors changed my life. They are some of the reason behind why I do what I do, why I have an idea and seem to always just ... go for it. I’ve done this with getting my dream internship at my wedding venue then starting my own business from scratch, making thousands of dollars in single days. Becoming an OCD treatment provider and moving halfway across the country for my dream job. Becoming a personal trainer after being called fat my whole life. Starting my second business and platform online with the intention of sharing therapeutic and empowerment resources with people. Starting a podcast. Starting a mom group that now has over 2,000 members. Going private practice and making beaucoup bucks (I AIN'T ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT because my talents and gifts are worthy and so are yours). Getting a scholarship to write a book by New York Times best seller Gabby freaking Bernstein. These books will change your life, too. Read them and you’ll be on the path to realizing what a total super attracting, bad ass you really are. Super Attractor by Gabby Bernstein – The content here might be a little spiritual for some, but again, if you can swap out terms like “God” for “universe” or “spirit” or whatever it is that is of your own understanding, then you’ll be good to go. Eat the fruit, spit out the seeds. In "Super Attractor", Gabby Bernstein gives you the steps to co-creating the life you want. You'll learn that what you want in life is already on its way to you - you just have to be in the right energy to allow it to happen.
"You Are A Bad Ass" by Jen Sincero - This was the first "self improvement" or "self help" book I picked up years ago, and since then, I think I've read it.. umm.. 5-10 times? I finally got the audiobook version so I could just have her mindsets on repeat so I could have them sink into my own brain via osmosis. By the end of this book, you'll love how you are and who you are, and you'll be ready to kick total ass in life.
"You Are A Bad Ass Every Day" by Jen Sincero - Yep, this one is an absolute necessity, too. This is kind of the "sequel" to You Are A Bad Ass, but it has more every day, practical tips that build on the material you'll read in the first. Got this one on audiobook, too. Osssmooosssiiisssss!
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert - Okay, this one definitely lives up to the hype. This is especially for "creatives" out there, which seems silly, because I think we're all creatives - which is kind of what this book is about. But especially if you're wanting to create something, make something, share something with the world, this book is for you. By the end of this book, you'll have a totally understanding of what it means to be creative and a unique perspective of your own unique talents and skills that you'll want to share with the world. She gets you to shoot down your fears and bust through them so that you can live your must fulfilling, creative life.
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis - Whoa okay first and foremost, people have strong opinions about this woman. I don't want to get into it because I have to pick my son up from daycare soon, but... this book really can have an incredible impact on you and your drive to pursue your dreams. Rachel will help crack open the lies and misperceptions you enforce on yourself day in and day out like "I'm not a good mom" and "I should be further along by now". She walks us through the lies we tell ourselves and helps us pull away from them with practical strategies so that we can live joyfully and productively.
I would 100% not be the person I am today without these books. I call on their strategies numerous times on a daily basis to get me going in my personal development, with motherhood, my job, my creative endeavours, in LIFE.
If there's something in your life that you're just tolerating... you want more and you know what that dream life looks like but you're just so hesitant and tentative about taking that next step? These. Books. Will. Change. Your. Life. You'll get the stamina and the confidence you need to help you remember and know how strong you truly are. And until you start believing that, I'll be over here cheering you on like..
Comment below and let me know which book you'll be picking up next. I mean it!!!!!!
And in the meantime...
Keep kicking ass and doing all the hard things.
